These children of lesser God are not really that unfortunate. Though they get this disease mainly due to the genetic factors, use of trimodality therapy (Surgery, Actinomycin-D based chemotherapy and radiotherapy) has paved the way for high cure rates. The 10 year survival in stage I, II, III is almost in the range of 90% and this is really a great success story of trimodality in the last few decades. Pediatric soft tissue sarcomas also get better with the judicious use of trimodality therapy.
In all, treatment of urological cancers has evolved greatly over the last few decades. These cancers are on the rise. Appropriate diagnosis, staging, timely referral and treatment only by the experts in this field are the key factors if we wish to achieve high cure rates.
